Brett Favre's Wisconsin Home, Estate of the Day

Here we are again with another sports celebrity selling a home in the town they used to play for. You might think that former Green Bay Parker quarterback Brett Favre would have one of the most lavish homes in the Green Bay area. You would be wrong. The Real Estalker Mama led me to the listing for Favre's home in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin which reveals a simple ranch style home in a quiet neighborhood.

One of the Real Estalker's able commenters reports that Favre's main manse is in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and this is just the home he stayed in during the football season. He and his wife, Deanna bought the four-bedroom home in 2005 for $416,000 so it was likely just a temporary home in a town that he was planning not to stay in after he retired from football. This likely explains the decor which seems to have been shipped straight from the local furniture store. It is listed at just $475,000.

Regis Philbin in Greenwich, Estate of the Day

I've been missing the real estate intelligence of Bob Goldsborough over at Big Time Listings after the site was unfortunately hacked. But now he's back with a vengeance, dishing out an impressive amount of celebrity scoop. One of the biggest is the listing for Regis Philbin's Greenwich, Connecticut home. Regis has been saying for a while on his show that he was selling his home but no one had dug up the listing until now. The home was built in 1980 and is on 5.68 acres that include a tennis court, pool, gazebo and gardens. The house itself was featured in 2002 in Architectural Digest, and includes a formal dining room, paneled living and media rooms, a library with a wet bar, a family room, a gourmet kitchen and a breakfast area that opens to a covered terrace. There are four bedrooms including a master suite with a sitting area, fireplace and his and hers baths. The lower level of the home includes exercise and recreation areas. Regis bought in 1992 for $2.5 million and is now asking $5.4 million for the home.

Adrien Brody Buys His Lady A Castle

Upstate New York is full of many interesting properties including a fair share of castle-like homes. Now there is one less on the market, Oscar winner Adrien Brody's first home is a 19th-century estate that he bought as a surprise for his girlfriend Elsa Pataky. On her birthday, he blindfolded her, brought her to the estate and then rang the home's antique church bell before asking her to open her eyes. The pair have completely renovated the property with a little help from tastemaker Giorgio Armani and the latest issue of HELLO! magazine has pictures of the couple and the interior and exterior of this unique home. A few pics can be seen at the Daily Mail.

Julianna Margulies in Santa Monica, Estate of the Day

Last week, we looked at a home in Santa Monica, California that was pretty charmless but this week I've got something in Santa Monica more to my (and I hope your) liking, It's the home of actress Julianna Margulies, the curly-haired brunette actress best known for her role on the NBC drama "ER." Her home is currently rented to Kyra Sedgwick, star of TNT's "The Closer" and the wife of Kevin Bacon. There's much to love about this home, which was built in 1927. It's a cozy three-bedroom with charming details like a living room with a wood beamed ceiling (the listing describes this as an "emotional living room") and a bathroom with Delft-style tiles. The small property includes a pool and directly opposite the pool is an adorable guest house with one bedroom, kitchen and bath. You might need to rent that out to afford this one, it is listed at $4.5 million which seems a bit ambitious given the fact that the main house is under 3,500 square feet.

Billy Baldwin in Bedford Corners, Estate of the Day

Billy Baldwin has always been, to my eye at least, the most calm of the Baldwin brothers. The other three have spun around in various stages of manic fervor but then there is Billy who has been living a quiet life for many years with singer Chynna Phillips (who sang in Wilson Phillips) and their children. But since Billy got his new gig on Dirty Sexy Money and is spending time in Los Angeles, the family is leaving the suburban life and their suburban house behind. The Real Estalker reports that the couple is selling their New York home. The couple bought this home in Bedford Corners, New York in February of 2005 for $3.35 million. The renovated 19th century carriage house is on 4.36 acres and has five bedrooms.

This is a lovely family home. It's not going to inspire oohs and aahs over the architecture but it's got all the family friendly details like a big dining room for family holidays, a comfortable den for hanging out and a big kitchen with a huge refrigerator and freezer. There is a cute little glass conservatory for escaping the family with a good book and a the yard has a lovely gated pool area. It is listed at $3.895 million.

The Edge, Not Bono, Bought The Cyan

Last week the Belfast Telegraph and other sources reported that Bono had bought the 140-foot Cyan yacht. Now it turns out that the purchaser was a different member of U2, The Edge. Edge told the Irish Independent that he bought the £12m luxury yacht and that his wife Morleigh Steinberg has spent the past few months in the south of France redecorating the yacht. He says it was a dream to own a yacht and that he and a few friends chipped in to purchase the Cyan but that Bono doesn't have anything to do with. In fact, he is quoted as saying "Bono doesn't know a thing about boats."

Britney Spears Puts Her Home Back On The Market

For at least the third time in the past year and a half since she bought the home, Britney Spears's six-bedroom home in the gated Summit community in the Beverly Hills post office area is back on the market. This time the faux Tuscan home is listed at $7.9 million, the highest we've seen it at (Spears bought for $6.75 million when it was on the market for $7.2 million). She picked up the home furniture and all so the listing pics aren't too much different from the ones back in 2006 (except for the addition of a kid's play area in the front yard. Spears's father Jamie, who still has legal control over Britney until the end of the year, asked the court's permission to sell the home. Rumor has it that she is headed to Calabasas where the paparazzi are a little less invasive. The property website is here.

Joseph Gregory in the Hamptons. Estate of the Day

Last week we saw the Maryland home of Freddie Mac CFO, Anthony Piszel, now check out another estate being sold, I'm assuming, due to the financial crisis. The Real Estalker Mama alerted me to the extravagant Hamptons getaaway home of Joseph Gregory. Who is Joseph Gregory? He was, until last June, the Chief Operating Officer, President and Managing Director for Lehman Brothers. Gregory's Hampton's home is a relatively new eight-bedroom spec house which was built on 2.5 acres in Bridgehampton, New York. The Real Estalker Mama reports that after buying the home for $19 million, Gregory and his wife Niki spent several million dollars in renovations. The home includes two master suites, a second floor deck, The property includes a pool area surrounded by plush green lawns and a sandy path leading across the dunes and to the ocean. The astounding thing here, aside from the $32.5 million pricetag, is that the couple reportedly spent just 14 days in the home over two years that they owned it.

Wolfgang Petersen in Santa Monica, Estate of the Day

German director Wolfgang Petersen first made a splash in the U.S. with the movie "Das Boot" about a World War II U-boat and its crew and since then his budgets have grown larger and larger including grand spectacles such as Poseidon and Troy. That's why his comparatively modest Santa Monica home is a bit of a mystery. Is it an investment property or a flip? Is his main residence elsewhere? I'm not certain but it's hard to imagine him in this pretty but bland six-bedroom home with no pool and no home theater. It was just completed and is in a state of utter brand spanking newness with fresh carpets, freshly laid and polished floors and walls in various shades of sunny yellow. It's got some nice features, the kitchen with a granite-topped center island, a Viking range and a wine refrigerator. There is an open house for the home today. It is listed at $3.95 million.

2008 Emmy Guests' Swag Bag and Perks

This Sunday, 9/21, at 8 p.m., get ready to park yourself on the couch to watch ABC and gawk at all the celebs who are famous-for-being famous and oh yes, the real actors, as they parade up and down the red carpet at the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards.
